I took this picture from the coastal path at Goodrington of the loco going past the beach huts and water slide park at Goodrington Sands.

A fab steam train jounery, all along the coast and finally down the edge of the River Dart. This has to be one of the prettest lines to travel on.

After our train jounery it was onto a boat trip!! Here the Kingswear ferry takes you across the water to Dartmonth.

We stopped here at Slapton Sands where the weather wasn't being very kind to us. The wind was really blowing and it was freezing. The sea was very rough.
Slapton Memorial

This memorial was given by the US Goverment to the locals who evacuated their homes and village to make way for the US Military to use the area for training for the Normandy Landings in June 1944

Sharman Tank at Slapton Sands, Torcross

This is a memorial to the US soldiers and sailors that lost their life while on a training exercise in the bay, whislt waiting to come ashore in their boats a German E-boat attacked them. This is one of the Sharman tanks that was lost that day, it laid on the seabed for 40 years before being recovered in May 1984.
