Around Exmoor
A few pictures from Exmoor after we had a weeks holiday there back in August...
Looking across to the sea from the top of Exmoor, Devon.
From the top of Exmoor again.... Beautiful.
The colour of the blue and green are just lovely and as the saying goes "blue and green should never be seen" what a load of rubbish.....
The farm in the valley
The farm that I would love to live in, only problem is this farm is in Exmoor and I live in Hampshire...
The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway
This lovely narrow gauge railway is just a few miles from Lynton on the A39, the car park is at Woody Bay Station and then you take the steam train for a 2 mile trip. The railway is run by volunteers and is slowly getting further along the old line. The line originally opened in 1898 and closed in 1935, in July 2004 the first section was opened to the public for them to once again take a trip through the wonderful Exmoor countryside.
If you happen to be in the area thn take a trip, it is short trip but very sweet.
The boys on the train...
Jess in the River Barle, Devon
This is where the famous Tarr Steps cross the River Barle.
Looking down stream of the River Barle
Walking across Tarr Steps on River Barle
Tarr Steps was only a few minutes walk from where we were staying, the steps are 4 miles north west from Dulverton.
The bridge (Tarr Steps) across the river is believed to date from around 1000BC and each stones weighs about 5 tonnes. It is 150 feet long and has 17 steps.
It was a great place for the children and dog to play after a day out... Great fun!
The pretty River
Jess and Landy in the river
Jess wasn't to happy about the Landy in the water and decided to take chase...
My family in the river
Jack and Harry had great fun in the river, glad we had a tumble dryer in our holiday home.

Family fun
On a visit to the small but lovely South Devon Railway centre this is my boys and husband enjoying the entertainment.
More fun
Just the boys this time, my husband was a bit disappointed that he was to big for these although looking at the picture I think Jack probably was too.
All aboard
Waiting in the station for the garden railway to take us on a ride. Harry is putting his thumb up at the front of the carriages.
Locos
This is two of their bigger locos which also take you for a ride round the site. All in all a good few hours were spent here enjoying all that was on offer. Maybe my boys at 11 and 14 were a little too old but never the less we all enjoyed it and I think it's worth a visit.
