A few days in Herefordshire
We had a few days in Herefordshire after we were meant to have been at The Marcle Steam Rally but the weather wasn't on our side so we had a couple of days to explore and we did....
Jess at speed
Our family dog letting off some energy and enjoying what she does best, running about.
Miners wheel Sculpture
This is the Miners Wheel that is dedicated to over 1000 men who once worked the pit on this site at Highley.
It is situated in the Severn Valley Country Park. The footpath from the station at Highley follows the route of the old railway line that used to take the coal from the colliery to the station.
The park was formed from the spoil of the mine in the late 1980's.
Highly signal box
We had a nice afternoon traveling on the Kidderminster to Bridgenorth steam railway, this is one of the stations on the line. Since we visited a few years ago they now have a loco shed which you can have a look around, you do have to pay to get in. Unfortunately we were too late and it was closed, oh well maybe next time.
Black Prince
This loco runs on the line at The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.
The loco is a 9F Number 92203 "Black Prince". The loco is owned by a man called David Shepherd and this engine was once kept at the old Longmoor Military Railway in Liss, Hampshire after it had closed in the late 1960's. Liss is the village that I live in, the railway has long gone and is now a footpath.
Carriage with a view
This photo was taken as we steamed through some of the lovely countryside.
The last station
The railway runs from Toddington to Cheltenham race course and this is the approach to Cheltenham race course station which was built and used for race goers.
Station sign
Mud mud and more mud
This was Much Marcle steam rally that we were meant to be at with our friend's and their showmans engine, see last weeks collection, Lady Pride of England.
This was the field on the Sunday evening as vehicles of all shapes and sizes were being pulled off the field by the tractors.
Pride of the Wye
This is a Fowler traction engine number 9225 "Pride of the Wye" built in 1901
