Southsea and The Steam Loco
A trip to Southsea, Hampshire on a lovely warm and sunny afternoon in February.
Also on the end of these photos there are a couple of a steam train going through our village of Liss.
Southsea front
This is a view looking back towards old Portsmouth, with The Spinnaker Tower, The Portsmouth Naval Memorial and to the left of the photo Clarence Pier.
The Portsmouth Naval Memorial
This is the Memorial that stands on Southsea Common.
It commemorates the sailors that died at sea during the 1st World War 1914 - 1918 and the 2nd World War 1939 - 1945, from the 1st World War there are 9,667 names and from the 2nd World War there are 14,918.
The Spinnaker Tower
Standing at over 170 metres tall and with 3 viewing decks the Spinnaker Tower is a good vantage point to look out to sea, on a good day you are meant to be able to see for 23 miles.
If you are visiting the area it's a good place to visit, although if you aren't keen on heights (which I'm not) then be warned it's a long way up. My children made me go up. The views were worth the slightly wobbly legs.
