This is a Burrell Showman’s engine “Lady Pride of England”.
No. 2625 Reg No BD 5257 of 1904.
We were lucky enough to be able to attend a rally for a weekend in July and play with “Lady”, our friend had invited us along to join him for the weekend at Marcle Steam Rally and we had a great time.
This is Lady and her train just pulling onto the rally field after a 15 mile trip on the road.
My lucky husband is steering.
While on holiday in Yorkshire we visited The Pickering Steam Rally which is held the first weekend of August, it is the biggest steam event in the North so I’m told.
On the Saturday evening many of the steam engines and other vehicles drive into Pickering town centre. The roads are packed with all manner of things from large showman's engines to small motorbikes. It’s a great atmosphere and the streets are crowded with people. After a few hours the vehicles depart and the town returns to normal.
The engine in this photo is a Burrell Showman’s engine ”Earl Kitchener”.
This is a portable engine which is the same as a traction engine apart from it’s not self propelled.
This is a Marshall of 1919 named Doris.
