Lakekand Motor Musuem

Lakekand Motor Musuem

This is a great museum to visit with many exhibits including motor cars, motorbikes, scooters, cycles and a lovely collection of pedal cars. There is also a building which holds a large exhibition of the history of Campbell family's world records attempts which is a must with replicas of some of the famous boats and vehicles they did their attempts in..

Our two boys wanted to take this roller home with them.... Another one for the shed but luckily we didn't have room to bring it home!!!
Haverthwaite Station

Haverthwaite Station

This is the station on the steam railway that runs from Haverthwaite to Lakeside and is only a short car journey from the Lakeland Motor Museum. This is the pretty station at Haverthwaite. Jack and Jess were keen to catch the train as you can see from the picture.
Loco 42085

Loco 42085

This is the loco that we travelled behind No. 42085, built in 1951 at Brighton.

This lovely railway is a nice 3 1/2 mile trip through the Lake District countryside traveling from Haverthwaite to Lakeside station.

Steam Gondola on Coniston

Steam Gondola on Coniston

As we traveled along the side of Coniston Lake we spotted this lovely steam gondola traveling up the lake, what a lovely way to travel...
Another day, another loco

Another day, another loco

This is a loco called Wilbert which was pulling the train on the day we visited the railway.

Wilbert was named after the Rev W Awdry OBE.

Stanhope Station

Stanhope Station

The pretty station of Stanhope on the Weardale Railway in County Durham with Wilbert just arriving in the distant. The line runs from here at Stanhope some 18 miles to the other end at Bishop Auckland.

As we arrived back from our trip parked outside the station was this old bus and I couldn't resist taking a picture.
