Hadrian's Wall
While on holiday back in April we visit the East side of Hadrian's Wall. We had a great day at two different locations on a beautiful sunny but windy spring day.
Well worth spending time to take a look.
Chesters (Cilurnum) Roman Fort
This was the first Fort we visited, a great place to relax, the weather was nice so wondering around was nice they even let dogs in which was great to.
Looking across to the river
The fenced off piece of wall is part of Hadrian's wall, there were lots of information boards to read which meant you felt like you knew more about what was there and what you were looking at.
Hadrians Wall
At this Fort the wall is fenced off but I think this is because there is not alot of it left at this location but you can walk around, on and in the Fort remains.
Jack enjoying the Fort
Our 2 boys had a great time, I thought that they would get a bit bored being teenages (17 & 13) but they loved it reading the information boards, taking the dog around and working out what would of been there etc.
Jess
Our dog Jess enjoying herself in one of the remaining parts of the Fort.

The River
This Fort had a river close by and it looked wonderful in the spring sunshine.
Across the river
You can see in this picture the small piece Hadrian's wall that still stands today.
Housesteads (Vercovicium) Roman Fort
Our second location for the day was here and this Fort was sitting in the sun at the top of the hill.
The walk to the Fort
It was quite a walk to this Fort but on a lovely sunny afternoon.... We had come from the carpark which is just beyond that clump of trees!!
And we are here
Well worth the walk and the climb, some lovely views and this Fort is so much bigger but more people too.
Harry looking towards Scotland

Jess on the wall
You can see Hadrian's Wall going off in the distance behind her.
