Dunster Castle and West Somerset Railway
This weeks photos have been taken while on a weeks holiday in Somerset.
We visited some beautiful places, starting this week with Dunster Castle and some of the many happy hours we spent on some of the stations on The West Somerset Railway.
Enjoy...
Dunster Castle
This is Dunster Castle sitting on top the hill.
It was opened to the public after The National Trust took it over from the Luttrell family in 1976.
Folly in the mist
This photo was taken from the grounds of the castle. Conygar Tower is a good few miles across the village.
Front of the castle
After climbing a few steps this is the front of the castle and court yard.

In the trees
This is a view across the top of the houses in the village of Dunster, the photo was taken from the castle grounds.
The back of the castle
From the garden
This castle has some lovely grounds to take a walk round, with some great views back towards the castle and out over the lovely Somerset countryside.

More monsters
These are the four monsters I went on holiday with for a week and I survived!
Mill cottages
This is some of the pretty cottages on the way down towards the watermill, unfortunately we didn't have time to visit.
Steam trains
Now we wouldn't be able to go on holiday without visiting a steam railway.
This is The West Somerset Railway which runs about 20 miles from Minehead to Bishop Lydeard taking in 10 stations along the way.
Approaching Blue Anchor station
This is a loco coming from Minehead.

Drivers break
We had a great day here, riding on the locos and enjoying the beautiful countryside.
A great way to spend a day!
