Derwent Water, Bowder Stone and Haweswater

Looking back on what was a wonderful holiday in August 2012 in The Lake District, this is the last of the pictures from our week there. Some great memories for us all and this collection show some of the best lakes and places to visit. Derwent Water from the view point we stop at was amazing, The Bowder Stone is just a great adventure with great history and Haweswater Reservior was stunning and a great lake to finish our Lake District holiday on.

We had a fab time and hoping to find time to visit this wonderful put of our country again this year. Please enjoy the pictures and sign our guest book page or visit our Facebook page.

Looking out over Derwent Water

Looking out over Derwent Water

We had been over the bridge called Ashness Bridge which is a very common land mark in the Lake District and if you carry on up the narrow road to come to a parking area where you can get out and cross the narrow road and take in this view. Please be aware though that there is a very steep high drop, this is where I get very "wobble legs" and have to go back to the car..
Down to Derwent Water

Down to Derwent Water

It is so high and steep but the views are wonderful, sadly you can see it wasn't the clearest or sunny of days for us but still well worth a look.
The family on the edge

The family on the edge

Well not quite at the edge because mums nerves won't take it, I'm not very good with heights!
Bowder Stone

Bowder Stone

This is us or them on top of the Bowder Stone, another great Lake District land mark. This stone is over 2000 tonnes, 30 foot high 50foot across and 90 foot in circumference. It is thought that the stone was carried here by the glaciers of the ice age.

Steps up to the top of the stone

The stone is now owned by The National Trust and is just a short walk from the carpark.
Back on the road again

Back on the road again

Another one of the wonderful narrow twisting roads of The Lake District.
