Autumn show Singleton

This group of photos I took while we were at The Autumn Countryside Show which is held at The Weald and Downland Museum at Singleton near Chichester, West Sussex.

It's a great show with all things country and more to look at. We were there with our traction engine "Victoria" driving the museum's 1862 Threshing drum.

The Square

The Square

This is a view of some of the wonderful buildings they have there, this is looking down into what they call The Square. All the buildings you are able to go in and in some they have people inside either giving you information on the buildings or there could be a family living in the house for the weekend as a tudor family.
Summer path

Summer path

There are lots of paths to explore and as you can see on a lovely sunny day it's so wonderful to take a stroll through.
Lurgashall Mill

Lurgashall Mill

This water mill dates from the 17th century and I believe that it is used by the museum to grind flour which they then sell in their shop.
Poplar Cottage

Poplar Cottage

This is Poplar Cottage from Washington, West Sussex that dates back to the mid 17th century.
The ducks

Falconry also on show

Falconry also on show

As well as all the buildings and other attractions they have an arena which was very busy throughout the day. Here there was a falconry display. They also had gun dogs, a fun dog show, heavy horses, donkeys and a large display of tractors.
People, dogs and donkeys

People, dogs and donkeys

The event is on for two days and both days were very busy, here you can see the donkeys walking through the crowds.

Looks dangerous

Looks dangerous

This machine was in with our traction engine display, a very interesting machine. Called a Devon Thresher or Comber built c1900. As I understand it's for cleaning sheaves before being used for thatching.
Oxen ploughing

Oxen ploughing

This is different, 2 oxens ploughing. They have only been doing this here for a while and it's good to see something other then horses ploughing although I still love watching the horses doing their job.

Victoria and the barn

At the end of the event we took Victoria for a trundle around the field and this is one of my favourite shots of the weekend.

The other traction engine that also attends this event is a Foden called "Wattie Pollock".

Black and white Victoria and threshing drum

Black and white Victoria and threshing drum

This is my favourite photo of the weekend, I always like black and white photos.

We had a great weekend here and are looking forward to next years event where hopefully we will be invited again.
